sunday trip to longshaw estate

Today Jack and I headed out to Longshaw Estate in the Peak District.

The Longshaw Estate was used as a hospital during WWI.

It was colder than expected so we were not properly attired and only stayed a little bit. Just enough time for tea and a scone for Jack and hot chocolate (the best hot chocolate ever) and a slice of cake for me.

Just look at it! I'm already dreaming of another hot chocolate!

One day when we've checked the weather ahead of time and are dressed for warmth, we're definitely going back to hike up to the two Roman hilltop forts that are visible from the estate - Carl Wark and Higgar Tor.

Carl Wark from the walk back to the car.

Another fun fact: these two forts are where some scenes from The Princess Bride were filmed - when Wesley and Buttercup finally meet up again and she pushes him down the hill..."Aaaasss yooouuuu wiiiishhhh."

Jack on the walk back to the car.

Have a happy Sunday!
